The materials used for motorcycle components are selected primarily based on their function, load-bearing requirements, and operating environment. In addition to metals, engineering plastics and rubber materials play a significant role in motorcycle components. Engineering plastics offer advantages such as low weight, corrosion resistance, and ease of processing, making them ideal for bodywork, protective panels, and instrument housings. Rubber materials are primarily used for tires, seals, and shock-absorbing pads, providing anti-slip, sealing, and cushioning functions.

 

Composite materials and advanced new materials are increasingly being adopted in the production of motorcycle components. For instance, carbon fiber-known for its high strength-to-weight ratio-is used in specific parts of high-performance models. Furthermore, the development of new-energy motorcycles has driven advancements in materials for components such as battery casings and electronic parts, pushing them toward greater safety, environmental friendliness, and high performance.
